This picture is a red herring: we actually talk about the movie “The Help” which leads to us revisiting the whole Rodney King debacle. Then we chat about noun gender in various languages (including English), and finally discuss American TV shows that are based on British TV shows. Later, Karl and Lauren take the quiz, trying to figure out what a “Reuben” is, while Johnson tries to figure out what a “Tannoy” might be.
After hearing that Karl and Lauren had never heard of Dorothy Hamill, I thought you should consider expanding the quiz to include people. Could be interesting.
LOVE that idea. I’m on it.

I was way ahead of Johnson’s ‘punter’ explanation. Brilliant.
I love the podcast…very entertaining! 🙂 I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but, here’s an interesting factoid I learned about the Help! album cover: the Semaphore for HELP is not correct..that is actually ‘NUJV’, not ‘HELP’. The cover artists didn’t like how the HELP Semaphore looked on the cover, so they had The Beatles make something that looked good on the cover. I learned that from watching an episode of BBC’s Quite Interesting.
Keep up the good work! 🙂 x
I live for that kind of trivia … thanks!
