Not really, but the quiz will feel a bit different this week. On the show, we revisit some themes from last week: the Kinder egg thing rears its head again, and also the phrase “blue hairs.” Then, we get some closure on the Clue/Cluedo discussion, and wonder about nearsighted/farsighted vs. shortsighted/longsighted. Then, I torture Johnson with the word “tarpaulin,” and we hear a use for draught excluders we hadn’t thought of. Then: Sam hosts the quiz, while Johnson and I guess the meanings of newer British slang words. He gets a “boyf,” while I get “Winona.” Lucky me!
Fun Fact – you shed roughly half a billion skin cells a day (about 10g). So it only takes about 35 days to replace your entire skin. The majority of house dust is sloughed-off cells though plenty ends up in your bed and clothes. Microscopic mites feed off of the dust and form the base of an entire food chain so a fair bit ends up as arthropod poo.
But CNS neurons never get replaced – so you never totally replace your body. Which is a pity ‘cos I definitely need a new one…
I … oh. That all makes me feel really ooky. Suddenly, shedding your entire skin in one go every seven years seems like a terrific idea. And I’m fairly sure I can feel arthropods on me.
